Their ephemeral sound is knitted together from mismatched gauzy lengths of acoustic guitar, field recordings and abrupt spoken word intrusions. Their second studio album Petals last year netted considerable critical acclaim as the world tunes into their detuned folk.Itchy Bugger is a determinedly lo-fi proposition, tinny and indefatigable drum machines labouring away while Josh Newton attempts to balance a spindly melody on top. Much-prized among connoisseurs of quirky antipodean songcraft, previous albums Done One and Double Bugger are wonderful exercises in lowkey jangle.
